Traditional Culture
Romania has a unique culture that is the product of its distinct geography and its historical evolution. It is fundamentally defined as the meeting point of three regions: Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, but can not really be included in any of them.
The Romanian identity was formed originally from Dacian and Roman elements with many other influences. In antiquity and the Middle Ages, the most important influences were from the Slavic peoples that migrated into the Carpathian-Danube region.
Modern Romanian culture emerged and developed over the past approximately 250 years under a strong influence from the cultures of Western Europe, particularly French and German culture. In addition, under the influences of Byzantine and Slavic cultures, Romanians were also the only Orthodox Christian people among all Latin nations.
